Cache by Michael Haneke: The Points of Viewpoint of Film Critics and Me

Cache’s Critical Claims

As

with all movies, Cache garners both rave opinions and bashing ones.

Cache, directed by Michael Haneke, is usually a mystery and suspense French

film centering around a French bourgeois spouse and children that's gripped by

paranoia after getting a number of menacing videotapes accompanied

by bloody, morbid drawings. The videotapes expose that someone is

monitoring their residence and potentially stalking them. Throughout

the film, Georges and Anna, a married few plague by these occurrences,

try to unravel this mystery but because they continue steadily to do so, we are able to

look at that their lives will be falling apart. This can be a very suspenseful

film with an ambiguous closing that some persons enjoy plus some don’t.

There

are a large amount of elements in the film that critics criticize and argue why

the film falls brief. An assessment by James Berardinelli of Rellviews

argues that the film neglect to effectively integrate both themes:

guilt and paranoia. The tape acts as the paranoia and George’s

past acts as the guilt but as the tale relocated along, the tape falls

into the background. Also, to Berardinelli, having less

closure after the film ends leaves too much to desire since this

particular closing feels unfinished.

On

the other hand, there are plenty of film critics that compliment Haneke’s

movie. One particular critic is definitely Lisa Kennedy of The Denver Content. She

praises the Haneke’s use
