There are many components used in the literature.  There is figure, theme, story, structure, vocabulary, etc .  The one that My spouse and i find the most interesting is irony.  In the book, Materials:  Browsing Fiction, Beautifully constructed wording, and Crisis, DiYanni says, " …irony always entails a contrast or difference between one thing and another” (p. 97).  Paradox can be presented through the dialect of the function, the events that occur or in the perspective of the operate (DiYanni, 3 years ago, p. 97).  These kinds of different types of irony are eventually called mental, situational and dramatic.  Each of these is demonstrated inside the short tale, " The storyline of An Hour” by Kate Chopin, the play, The Importance of Being Solemn, by Oscar Wilde as well as the novel, Take great pride in and Bias, by Her Austen.              The Merriam-Webster Dictionary (2010) defines mental irony while " the application of words to show something apart from and especially the contrary of the exacto meaning” (par. 1).  Verbal irony can be recognized by the spoken tone, the reader's knowledge of the writer or understanding of the situation.  For example , in the final sentence of the short story, " The Story of the Hour”, the narrator says, " …they said she died of heart disease---of joy that kills” (DiYanni, 2007, g. 41). If we had the benefit of hearing the author reading these words, I think we would be able to hear the irony in the strengthen. However , we can say that this assertion is ironic because the audience has understanding of the entire circumstance and, therefore , knows that Mrs. Mallard didn't die by heart disease.
Gerald Berkowitz wrote a short biography of Oscar Wilde that is published for the World Publication Advanced site (World Publication, 2010). In that biography, he states that " Oscar Schwule was an author, playwright and wit. This individual preached the importance of style in both existence and art, and he attacked Even victorian narrow-mindedness and complacency” (par. 1). The verbal paradox in Wilde's play, The value of Being Serious, is better recognized with this knowledge of the writer. For instance , read the next interaction between Lady Bracknell and Jack: " Woman Bracknell: …Do you smoke cigarettes?
Jack: Very well, yes, I need to admit My spouse and i smoke.
Female Bracknell: My spouse and i am delighted to hear it. A man should always have an job of some type. There are quite a few idle guys in London since it is…” (DiYanni, p. 1946). When the target audience applies preceding knowledge of the author to this exchange, it's apparent to see that Wilde would not literally imply that smoking is an occupation.
Anne Austen's new, Pride and Prejudice, has many samples of verbal irony. There is an exchange that takes place in Chapter 37 between Female Catherine and Elizabeth Bennet in which the last mentioned is trying to convince the previous that the girl should remain on a few more times in Rosings. Lady Catherine tries numerous ways to convince her. Even if Elizabeth says that her father cannot spare her, Lady Catherine has the audacity to say, " Daughters are never of so much consequence to a father” (Austen, p. 263). Elizabeth is undoubtedly exasperated by the end of the chat when the girl finally states, " You are all amazing advantages, madam; yet I believe we have to abide by each of our original plan” (p. 264). The initial part of Elizabeth's statement is certainly ironic because it is obvious that during the whole exchange, Woman Catherine is definitely not being kind. I am sure that if we can hear Her Austen browse Elizabeth's series, there would be a little ironic strengthen in this.
Situational paradox is described by Merriam-Webster (2010) since " Incongruity between the real result of a chain of situations and the normal or anticipated result” (par. 1). Quite simply, the readers believe they understand what's going to happen, but anything entirely several ends up occurring. In " The Story of the Hour”,...
